What We Do
In the Retail, Distribution and Manufacturing industries inventory is vital to business. Without it, a business has nothing to sell to a customer.
But just as easily as inventory is needed to gain sales and generate cash flow, inventory can suck up working capital and suffocate a business if it’s not managed expertly. Not having the right inventory, every time, can turn customers away and lose sales. Yet the processes leading to the decision of what to buy, how much, and when can be complex. The ability to align these processes so that each one works seamlessly with the others is what will achieve the maximum efficiency and profit making ability of a business.
Primarius’ unique methodology optimises five stages in the supply chain:

Plan - aligning the business so that sales, marketing, manufacturing, finance and logistics are working in concert about what finished goods are required, when, in what quantity, from what suppliers to enable the business to reach its revenue and cost objectives. Planning also involves understanding the flaws in the current supply chain, identifying improvement opportunities and developing strategies to improve the supply chain.
Source - Primarius’ expertise in global sourcing can be utilised to provide product at lower total cost, with order quantities more appropriate to the needs of the business, with reduced leadtimes, with improved logistics costs to provide overall increased delivered profit.
Buy - Primarius has developed unique demand planning and order management toolsets which enable a business to order the inventory it needs, in the optimum quantity required taking account for future demand, yet dramatically reducing the potential for product out of stocks. These toolsets reduce inventory levels significantly and improve stock turns.
Make - Improvements in the upstream processes to bring raw materials in quickly and efficiently are wasted if raw material is stockpiled due to capacity constraints in machinery. Likewise if work-in-progress inventory piles up on the factory floor due to poor scheduling or inefficient routings, upstream improvements are lost. Primarius provides specialised services in advanced production scheduling and routings to improve production efficiencies and reduce cycle times.
Deliver - Primarius provides advice and services in critical decisions involved in product distribution:
- How many warehouses are required and where should they be located
- How to improve the efficiency of individual warehouses
- How to optimise the physical distribution of product and
- How to develop and improve day-to-day vehicle routings and schedules.

Key to achieving these improvements is the methodology employed in understanding the root causes of problems and employing techniques to encourage and mentor employees to continuously improve.
Primarius Resource Management’s methodology follows these guidelines:
- Examine the existing supply chain and surrounding processes to determine how effectively the resources (inventory, people, systems) are being utilised; to ascertain what improvements can be made and what additional productivity and profitability can be had if these improvements can be made
- To ‘Stop The Bleed’ - by utilising our expertise and systems, put a stop to the existing core problems and take action in key areas which not only have significant return on investment but prevent past problems from re-occurring
- To Improve - Once core systems are stabilised, Primarius uses its systems to improve processes and productivity, immediately improving profitability
- To Mentor - Transferring skills and expertise to our clients’ personnel to ensure improvements will be ongoing.
Our Delivery Model - Quick To Implement, Inexpensive To Use, Fast To Get Results
Key to Primarius Resource Management’s delivery is its suite of advanced inventory and process optimisation tools. Primarius is not a software company nor does it sell software. Our toolsets were developed to allow our customers to quickly and inexpensively turn around their business then to provide them with the opportunity to rapidly improve.
To achieve these twin goals of cost and time, our P-OMS optimisation services are offered as a Bureau Service initially, where data is provided to Primarius and our experts analyse the information and provide action recommendations back to our clients. This means that Primarius is able to begin inventory optimisation within days of starting the project. There are no delays waiting for IT resources to be available and, being a Bureau service, the customer does not need to buy software.
Our experts mentor our clients’ staff, providing specialised training in advanced techniques of inventory management and school personnel in how the toolsets are used to gain best results. When the client and Primarius share the view that the client can take direct control of data gathering, analysis and action, Primarius provide the optimisation toolsets on an ASP basis via the internet, allowing the client to manage its’ supply chain with world class software but without the upfront costs of having to buy software.
